Anna Louise Andersson can be described as a powerful, multifaceted and sensitive singer. Her style exudes vivid musical colors, strong dynamics and an array of influences from many genres. The 2016 Hällevik Jazz Fest “Jazz Artist of the Year” paces herself between Jazz, Soul, Funk, Swedish Folklore and occasionally African music sung in Swahili, Xhosa and Zulu. 


A native of Sweden, Anna Louise has traveled the world and has lived and worked as an artist in London, Stockholm, Los Angeles and New York. 

Her music education started at an early age when Anna Louise attended music school in her hometown. She took singing lessons, sang in various choirs and played viola and clarinet. She was a part of the local symphony orchestra playing viola. This “Smörgårdsbord” of music at an early age sparked her interest in many genres, followed by an interest in composition and songwriting. 

After studying classical music and performance in the Applied Music Program at Santa Monica College in Los Angeles, she went on to finish her Bachelors in Fine Arts (Jazz Vocal Performance) at the New School University for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York in 2011, where she studied with legends such as Bernard Purdie, Charles Tolliver, Junior Mance, Reggie Workman and Jimmy Owens. 


She has performed with artists such as Mark Whitfield, James Genus, Richie Cannata, James Bradley Jr., Peter Asplund, Ronnie Gardiner, The Stockholm Cathedral Choir, The Eyal Vilner Big band, The Johan Stengård Big band, and Jack Jeffer´s Big Band, and countless of top-notch New York musicians. She has performed all across her native Sweden, around Europe and in the US. She has also been a musical guest at “Ginger New York” TV-show (MNN Studios) on several occasions. She has performed 


An accomplished band leader, she leads her own Quartet, “Anna Louise Andersson & The Fellas”, which focuses on bridging the gap between genres by creating songs and arrangements that have the element of surprise and curiosity for the listener. The group recorded an EP in 2015, called “Tiger Loose…”. In addition, she leads a Piano, Violoncello and Vocals Trio that focuses on Swedish Folklore. One of her current projects include presentations with The Swedish Church in NY Choir, plus Jazz Quartet, at the Swedish Church in Midtown Manhattan.

Anna Louise currently resides in Brooklyn, New York.
